I started writing Slacker’s Guide to Physics: E and M on March 25, 2003.

The first version I’ve made available to the general public was on 4.7.2003

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this errata.`

Here are the Updates I have made to the main.pdf file since then:

The paging is according to the .pdf file.

  1. 4.13.03 Edition:
    1. Electrostatics Introduction; Third Paragraph Down: added unit vector r
    2. Next paragraph: “Every single change” -> “every single electrostatic charge.”
    3. Page 14: 2nd line; 2nd Paragraph: “electrostatic friction.” Left quote changed.
    4. Sentence of Div Theorem, period at end
    5. Various spacing fixes
    6. Page 15: $1,000,000/person – er, charge – people – er, charge –
    7. Page 16: second paragraph, “continuous charge distributions”

Answer: You can get this from Gauss’ Law like so: [Change r vector squared to r squared times unit vector r.]

    1. To recap: E dot da contains only the components of E and da .. E and da sould have vector signs on them.
    2. 4.1.2 4th paragraph, “In this case.” à “In this case,” … period to comma.
    3. For Phi, in same section, Change the r^2 to r^2 times the unit vector r.
    4. Page 19: I’ve included an interactive diagram “link” to help you relate divergence and the electric field of a sphere/point charge.
    5. Page 23: First paragraph change quotes to ``
  1. 4.21.03 Edition:
    1. Added Magnetism Intro and beginnings of the section.
    2. Page 21: Fourth paragraph from bottom of page “As we know, the field is obviously not zero” – insert comma after “know”
    3. Page 22: Second paragraph. “radisuà “radius”
    4. Page 23: First paragraph change quotes to ``
  2. 4.28.03 Edition:
    1. Made loads of updates to the Math section.
    2. Misc typos.
  3. Stay Tuned for the Next Update! – Coming soon: Updated Gauss’ Law Section and Too Lazy to Read… and more math-filler stuff, including cylindrical cords, pretty much already available in your calc book.
