Second Life is a free interactive multiuser online world created by its residents. Just like the real world, your goal on Second Life is whatever you want it to be. It has over 8 million registered users and has its own economy and currency; each day, millions of US$ are traded through the game. Companies like IBM and Dell have already bought several sims on Second Life, and thousands of other companies have as well. - Why would my business want to be on Second Life?

In general terms, a sim and an island are often interchangeable. However, there are some land sellers who may sell you a tiny water-separted parcel on their sim and call that an island. In short, a sim is a 256x256 meters2 island. - What are prims?
A prim is the most basic building block in Second Life. Prims and distance-based-size are two limitations of what a plot of land can support. - How do I obtain land?
You can either rent or buy land. If you rent, you will pay a higher monthly fee than if you purchase land. - Do I need a premium account to own land?
No. You can purchase land at cheaper rates than mainland from third party land sellers, such as nusoy designs. - How much is it to buy land?
For a typical 4096m2 parcel, allowing for around 900 prims, commercial land typically starts at USD$0.01/m2 per month, while residential land may be as inexpensive as USD$0.005/m2 per month, with a downpayment of up to USD$200. - How much is it to buy a sim?
As of July 2007, there is a USD$1675 setup-fee plus USD$295/month to own an island. For nonprofit or educational customers, there is a 50% discount. - How much is a typical commercial 3d building?
A typical custom-designed commercial building starts at L$100,000, roughly USD$400. Residentials start at L$25,000. Selected nonprofits receive free builds. However, please note that you can also purchase prefabs—or pre-built buildings, and make your own modifications yourself, for a much cheaper rate. - How long does it take Nusoy Designs to build a single building?
